Is Your Thyroid Weighing You Down?

Thyroid Butterfly (Thyroid butterfly)Sometimes it takes more than good nutrition and exercise to see a difference in the scale...or better yet, in inches (because the scale is not always a good indicator of your progress). I went through years of working out and eating right, but I still struggled with keeping my weight where I wanted it to be...you know, that place where you feel comfortable in your own skin?! I honestly felt like I could barely eat anything or I would put on weight.

I've went through my ups and downs with my weight, but the biggest thing that I learned was that you need to have all your ducks in a row! By that I mean, giving your body the proper nutrients and making sure all your hormone levels are optimal. For me the key was proper thyroid care and treatment along with key nutrients. However, other hormones can be a piece of the puzzle if thyroid levels are in the optimal range and key vitamins and minerals (ex. Vitamin D, Iron, B12) are within normal range. Therefore, if you feel like you are doing everything right, but are still struggling with your weight, most likely something is off.

Note:  The butterfly in the picture represents the thyroid (as it is butterfly-shaped).
